The playhouses at the Stanford Shopping Center are ready for new owners. The playhouses have been on display the last several weeks and soon will be a neighborhood attractions for years to come. Architects and Builders from around the bay area donated their skills and time to come up with some truly amazing designs with a common goal in mind – help local families.

Mike’s Truck worked with Pete Moffat Construction to protect the Galactic Guardian playhouse from all types of weather. The Galactic Guardian is one of twenty playhouses on display at the Stanford Shopping Center. The playhouses will be auctioned off June 6, 2015 with the proceeds going to charity helping needy families.

Since 1993, Stanford Shopping Center has co-sponsored and produced the biennial Dreams Happen event benefiting Rebuilding Together Peninsula. Playhouses have sold for amounts ranging from $13,000 to $101,000. Bidding typically begins at $5,000.

Then everything is put back together. The photos don’t really do it justice because this beast is really BAD ASS! in real life. But you get the idea.

    Rhino Lining invalid Warranty?

WAAAAT??? When this bed liner was installed, it had a lifetime warranty. Fast forward 6 years. When they saw their truck’s Rhino Lining bed liner was crumbling and exposing the surface it was supposed to be protecting – naturally they went back to the store that installed it to get it fixed. To their surprise they were turned away. The warranty was invalid because he used his truck commercially. But the corporate website advertises applications for “Construction Vehicles”. Needless to say, you can imagine how he felt.

That’s when he turned to Mike’s Truck of Bay Area. The Bay Area’s Crisis Center. In the photos you can see the cracked and peeling Rhino Lining that we removed. Once that was done we applied a lifetime warrantied coat of Bulletliner material. After the Bulletliner bed liner is installed, Mike’s Truck will stand behind the product’s lifetime warranty — whether the truck is used for personal or commercial use. You can count on Mike’s Truck to come through with your best truck accessories!

This cute little 1980 VW diesel pickup found its way in to Mike’s Truck & Spray-On Bedliner of Bay Area badly in need of a new skin. Meet Rusty. We fell in love with this car and made it one of our shop cars. As you can see, Rusty needed some serious love. Lucky for Rusty, she has a straight body with no serious dents or damage which made this little Volkswagen an excellent candidate for a Bullet Liner exterior. At Mike’s Truck we have the capability to mix any automotive paint color code in the Polyurea material. For this application we went with the same Chevy colors we used on our shop truck, Dark Gray bottom and Dark Blue on top.

The first step was to completely strip her down to a bare body – removing all the accessories, bumpers, mirrors, lenses, headlights, door handles, etc. Next step is the primer coat. This base coat is light gray Bullet Liner applied to the whole body. Once the Bullet Liner is applied, the surface is permanently sealed from moisture and rust. Then the color coat is applied.

Mike’s Truck  can custom finish your vehicle in the factory paint color you choose, or they can mix up a new custom color. The total process takes less than a week. Give us a call at the shop at 925.272.7666 or stop by and talk to Rich – don’t forget to bring your car with you, or atleast a bunch of pictures or a video so that they can get a really good idea what you want.

    See PHASE I here: http://mikestruck.org/1986-quadratrack-mikes-truck-accessories

Now that the first phase has been completed – which was to remove external truck accessories, bumpers, mirrors, door handles, etc. Followed by sand blasting, sanding, welding, replacing and renewing any body damage. Including completely cutting off the huge portions of rusted out drip rail and then welding in a new (recycled) drip rail that we found on another van at a parts yard.

The body was then sealed in light gray coating as the primer. Mike’s Truck uses a 100% solids (no air pollution), thermoplastic polyurethane and polyurea. The materials are precisely dispensed through a high pressure polyurethane spray machine. The material is heated to 120-140 degrees with the temperature maintained through a heated hose. Using high pressure, the materials is applied. It takes less than 5 seconds for it to harden. As soon as it lands on the surface it’s dry! If it’s sprayed from too far away, it won’t stick because it will have already dried. Amazing material and process!

Mike’s Truck & Bullet Liner products are a fast-cure, multipurpose series of coatings designed for a wide range of retail, commercial, and industrial uses. They exhibit excellent adhesion to most properly prepared surfaces. There are no solvents associated with these products, which means there are no air pollutants or harmful environmental contaminates.

Mike’s Truck & Bullet Liner Protective Coatings are resistant to most solvents and acids, making them ideal for industrial and commercial applications where corrosion is prevalent. This greatly extends equipment and vehicle life expectancy. It has a high “shore D” hardness rating, offering excellent impact resistance and superior tensile strengths (up to 6,600 psi) resulting in outstanding abrasion resistance. Because the material is sprayed there is a complete seal, making the coating “water tight”.

A very good client of ours brought his Special Edition 1986 Ford Quadratrack 4WD Van in to us here at Mike’s Truck Bay Area.  Some of you may know this Van as Hank the Happy Tank AKA ‘The Black Duck”. You may or may not be aware of this but there is a Facebook page with more than 35 likes (www.facebook.com/hankhappytank) photo journaling some of the Van’s adventures. As you can see, this 1 Ton Diesel has quite a bit of wear and use that needs to be re-aligned to put this Van back to it’s youth. Well Mike’s Truck Bay Area is just the right place for that. When we’re done with it, it will be back to being the Off-Road monster Van it once was!

The Goal: Make it like new.
Fix all rust and corrosion inside and out.

PHASE I: After identifying rust and weak areas, we remove the mirrors, accessories, bumpers & roof rack. All rust and corrosion is sand blasted and/or sanded off. That nasty drip rail is re-welded. Holes are patch welded. Seams are made smooth. The whole exterior is scuffed & cleaned up for PHASE II.

PHASE II: Mask out & primer gray the surface. Next, apply a coat of paint color Polyurea See details here: mikestruck.org/?p=

PHASE III: Put everything back together and take some glamour shots!
